The Cleveland Cavaliers are filling their head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
ESPN Sources: The Cleveland Cavaliers are hiring Golden State assistant Kenny Atkinson as the franchise’s next head coach and sides are working on a contract that’s expected to be completed soon.
Atkinson, 57, was the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2016-20, and now he gets another shot at leading a team with the Cavs. Atkinson has also been an assistant with the New York Knicks (2008-12), Atlanta Hawks (2012-16), Los Angeles Clippers (2020-21) and most recently the Golden State Warriors (2021-24), where he won a championship with the team in 2022.
