Former Portland Trail Blazers star Brandon Roy is planning to return to coaching Garfield High School in 2019-20 after taking a break for the upcoming season, according to Jayda Evans of the Seattle Times. A statement from the school says Roy will remain involved in his absence:
“Coach Roy recognizes the importance of the Bulldogs’ Basketball program to the student athletes, families, community, and fans,” read a statement released by the school. “Though stepping away from day to day operations, (Roy) will remain involved.”
Previous reports also said Roy was leaving this season and the school had posted the job, but word of his planned return is a new development.
