The Boston Celtics have been sold for a valuation of $6.1 billion, the largest professional sports franchise sale in the history of North America. The buyer, Bill Chisholm of Symphony Technology Group will purchase the team from Wyc Grousbeck, who has owned the Celtics since 2002.

The Celtics won their 18th NBA Championship this past June. They are the league’s reigning champions.
