Blazers Hold Their Own in First Power Rankings of the Season

The first week of the 2024-25 NBA season ending brings with it the first editions of NBA power rankings around the league. With a 1-3 record, and low expectations to begin the year, the Portland Trail Blazers find themselves near the bottom in power rankings. But there was some room for upward momentum.

John Schuhmann from NBA.com ranked the Blazers at #26, two spots up from their preseason ranking of #28. Schuhmann released his rankings before Portland’s loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday night.

The offense broke out on Sunday when Jerami Grant and Anfernee Simons combined to score 55 points (Deandre Ayton added 17 on 7-for-9 shooting).
