The Portland Trail Blazers overhauled its roster this summer for the first time since 2015 and subsequently altered how the offense will operate in the future. In 2015, the team moved on from post ups and pick and pops centered around LaMarcus Aldridge, and they gave Damian Lillard, a pick and roll maestro, the keys to kingdom. Lillard is still at the wheel, but pick and rolls will involve a rim-running center and floor-spacing forwards more next season.
Even without the requisite room for Lillard to exploit the pick and roll, Portland finished third in offensive rating last year.
