The Portland Trail Blazers are being given a small reprieve after center Robert Williams III had season-ending surgery, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been awarded a $5.8 million Disabled Players Exception in wake of Robert Williams III’s season-ending injury, sources tell ESPN.
This essentially gives the Blazers $5.8 million to work with in signing another player that can replace Williams in the lineup.
ESPN’s Bobby Marks explained more about what the Disabled Players Exception is:
Portland can trade, claim or sign a player in the last year of their contract with the exception.
