After recently agreeing to a buyout with the Brooklyn Nets, forward Ben Simmons is signing with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Ohm Youngmisuk:
Ben Simmons has agreed to a contract buyout with the Brooklyn Nets and intends to sign with the LA Clippers after clearing waivers, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Saturday. A three-time All-Star, Simmons joins the Clippers as a high-upside addition in the buyout field.
After being considered a franchise cornerstone in Philidelphia, Simmons’ star faded considerably as he became more tentative on offense (including famously becoming scared of layups against small point guards), then dealt with back issues and held out for an entire season, claiming the Sixers didn’t help him when he was experiencing mental health challenges.
