Portland Trail Blazers’ guard Anfernee Simons has paired up with Goalsetter, a financial services app, to help start savings accounts for Black and brown youth. Simons has specifically sponsored students at the Boys and Girls Club of East Altamonte as well as students at Hungerford Elementary School, both of which are located in Simons’ hometown of Orlando, Florida.
According to Simons’ announcement on Instagram, each student will receive $40 in their savings account.
Goalsetter is a Black-owned business started by Tanya Van Court, a former Nickelodeon executive. The app allows children and families to set savings goals and learn about financial health and wellness.
