Allen Crabbe sustained a severe left ankle injury in the second quarter of the Portland Trail Blazers’ 82-77 Summer League victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. He came down awkwardly while fighting for a rebound just before halftime and remained on the floor unable to stand. Medical staff carried him off on a stretcher. He would not return.
Initial x-rays have all been negative, and the Trail Blazers have termed the injury an “ankle sprain” for the time being. Crabbe is scheduled for an MRI on Thursday morning. Although the extent of the injury is unknown at this juncture, it is probably safe to assume that he will not be playing for the remainder of the Summer League tournament.
