U.S. Soccer today revealed the adjusted bracket and tournament procedure for the 2021 edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup competition.
As with nearly everything nowadays, the 108 year-old competition has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. After being canceled for the first time in 106 years last year, the tournament is back, albeit with a vastly reduced field and adjusted format. The 2021 edition will feature only 16 teams from the tiers of American soccer, and will therefore commence in the Round of 16.
Major League Soccer will have eight representatives in the tournament this year.
