Tobin Heath Named US Soccer Female Player of the Year

Portland Thorns midfielder Tobin Heath has been named the 2016 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year.

Heath captured 40 percent of the vote following breakout seasons with the Thorns and the United States Women's National Team, helping lead the Thorns to the 2016 NWSL Shield and being named to 2016 NWSL Best XI. During the season, she was also named the NWSL Player of the Month for April and NWSL Player of the Week for Week 6.

Heath, 28, set a new NWSL record with 10 assists in 14 appearances (13 starts) with the Thorns, and scored 1 goal.
