Timbers wary of winless Earthquakes

Following the San Jose Earthquakes 5-0 loss to LAFC—his team’s fourth consecutive loss—Quakes coach Matias Almeyda declared through a translator, “I’ve been respectful with the group of player that I’ve inherited, that I accepted and I have given them enough time to change.”

After his brief exchange with the media, Almeyda gathered his coaches and players for an intensive deep dive on his teams woes.

“We talked about how much we need to change,” San Jose midfielder Tommy Thompson recalled. “I mean there’s a lot wrong.”

LAFC head coach Bob Bradley may have soundly defeated San Jose last week, but Bradley sees a team that is beginning to come around.
