Nearing the end of their 2017 regular-season, the Portland Timbers U23 have had a strong campaign playing their first Premier Development League season in Salem. The Timbers U23s (7-2-4), who play Lane United FC on Sunday (7:30pm PT, Webstream), currently sit two points back of the Northwest Division leader, Calgary Foothills FC. While the Timbers U23 have already clinched a spot in the 2017 PDL Playoffs, with a win against Lane United, and a Calgary loss, the Timbers can leapfrog and clinch first place in the division.
Founded in 2008 by the then-USL, now-MLS Portland Timbers, the club moved to Salem prior to the 2017 season to be run by Adidas Timbers Alliance Club Capitol FC Timbers.
