Tom Bogert of MLSsoccer.com reported on Friday that Portland Timbers defender Julio Cascante has been traded to Austin FC in exchange for $250,000 in allocation money. It is the second trade involving a defender for Portland, who traded Marco Farfan to LAFC for $300,000 in allocation money.
Cascante joined Portland back in 2018 and made 48 appearances with the club. The 27-year-old defender only made appearances in five matches this year, however.
Bogert also reported that the Timbers are still negotiating with Pumas UNAM of Liga MX about permanently acquiring striker Felipe Mora.
