Timbers part ways with Chance Myers

The Portland Timbers on Wednesday announced they have waived right back Chance Myers after a little more than a year with the club.

Myers, 30, signed with the Timbers last January as a free agent after spending the first nine years of his career with Sporting Kansas City. At the time the Timbers hoped Myers, who was a consistent starter for Peter Vermes’ side from 2011 through 2013, could regain health and form to provide depth — and perhaps competition — at right back.

The injury issues that hampered Myers in Kansas City, however, only got worse in Portland, and, as a result, the Timbers have parted ways with the former top pick in the SuperDraft.
