In a report from Jesus Bernal of ESPN, the Portland Timbers reportedly have acquired Chivas de Guadalajara fullback Josecarlos Van Rankin on a one-year loan.
The Mexican fullback has played professionally since he was 18 years old, spending 10 his 11 professional seasons in Liga MX. Van Rankin, now 27, played for Pumas UNAM for seven seasons, Guadalajara for two seasons, and Santos Laguna for two seasons. Currently with Guadalajara, Van Rankin is still practicing with the first team, but ESPN said to wait for an announcement to come soon.
It’s just one of a couple rumors that have popped up regarding the Timbers in the past couple days, although this one seems to make the most sense.
