PORTLAND, Ore. – His first career MLS win under his belt last night with Portland’s 3-2 win over Minnesota United FC Saturday evening in a sold out, 2018 home opener at Providence Park, you might think that Timbers head coach Giovanni Savarese would be enjoying a quiet Sunday.
But come Sunday afternoon, he was back at the stadium again, this time in the stands, with members of his staff enjoying Thorns FC’s own NWSL home opening 2-1 win over the Orlando Pride. It was Savarese’s first experience witnessing the Thorns in person and they did not disappoint.
“I enjoyed it very much,” he said following the match.
