Timbers acquire 2020 international spot, GAM in trade with DC United

The Portland Timbers announced today that they have acquired a 2020 international roster spot and and $62,500 in General Allocation Money (GAM) from DC United in exchange for $212,500 Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).

The move comes at the end of a day which saw DC make a flurry of moves, including one which will end star player Wayne Rooney’s time with the club at the end of 2019 to become a player-coach with Derby County in the EFL Championship in England.

The move is probably not a precursor for any moves for the Timbers, as team owner Merritt Paulson said early last week that Portland was unlikely to make a signing before the Secondary Transfer Window closes tomorrow.
