WHAT: In honor of Portland Thorns FC’s second NWSL Championship in five seasons, Portland International Airport will host a Thorns FC Welcome-Home Celebration for fans and media upon the team’s triumphant return to Portland. In addition to the airport celebration, Thorns FC will be recognized at halftime during the Portland Timbers home match against D.C. United on Sunday, followed by an NWSL Championship Rally at Providence Park, which is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:45 p.m. (Pacific) Sunday evening.
Thorns FC defeated the North Carolina Courage 1-0 behind 2017 NWSL Championship MVP Lindsay Horan’s game-winning goal in the 50th minute on Saturday at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla.
