The Portland Thorns announced a trade with the Washington Spirit for a 2018 international spot and “future considerations” in exchange for their 2019 first round pick. The extra international spot allows both Caitlin Foord to join the Thorns and Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic to remain at the club until the end of the season. Foord, who has been out with a lisfranc rupture since the W-League semifinal in February, is on the injury list this week ahead of her arrival in Portland.
The international spot in question appears to be only for the 2018 season, at the conclusion of which it will revert to the Washington Spirit and the club will have to make further roster decisions.
