Portland Timbers left back Jorge Villafaña returned to the team’s starting lineup on Sunday against Seattle Sounders FC, ending a three-week spell on the sidelines as he recovered from a leg injury. That ailment came at a particularly inopportune time for the 29-year-old, who had briefly lost minutes in his team’s starting lineup earlier this season. The 2015 MLS Cup-winner had reclaimed his spot shortly before being injured on June 30 against FC Dallas.
As the Timbers returned to training on Wednesday in Beaverton, Oregon, Timbers.com caught up with Villafaña, who is quickly approaching the one-year anniversary of his Portland return from Liga MX’s Santos Laguna.
