PORTLAND, Ore. – It took an hour to hand out all the meals. By 5:30 p.m., the number would eclipse 1,100. Next week, they’ll hand out even more. What started out as a small distribution from one kitchen – 65 meals, in the first week of Portland’s COVID-19 precautions – has seen volunteers respond, and donations grow. It took three locations across the Portland metropolitan area to meet the new need.
Or did it even take the full hour? Signs to the north and east of the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Regence location in North Portland’s New Columbia neighborhood announced the distribution time as 4:30 p.
