Sean McAuley to Orlando City SC

The Portland Timbers announced on Thursday that Sean McAuley, an assistant coach with the club since 2012, will be departing to to serve in the same capacity in Orlando as part of new coach James O’Connor’s staff.

McAuley’s final match will be Saturday’s contest against the Philadelphia Union. In the press release, the Timbers said they will be bringing in a new assistant coach to replace McAuley, but declined to speculate on characteristics they are seeking, or when they expect the new candidate would join the Timbers existing coaching staff.

McAuley served under Caleb Porter for the entirety of Porter’s MLS career.
