The Portland Timbers may be getting close to signing their box-to-box midfielder.
A report out of Paraguay on Wednesday indicated the Timbers are looking into acquiring Paraguayan central midfielder Cristhian Paredes on loan from Liga MX side Club América with an option to buy. Paredes, a 19-year-old box-to-box central midfielder, has made frequent appearances for Paraguay’s youth international sides, and in February 2017 received his first cap with the senior national team in a friendly against France.
Monday morning’s report initially surfaced on Twitter when Pablo Pedrero, a Paraguayan journalist, indicated the Timbers remained interested in acquiring Paredes.
