The Oregonian is reporting that the Timbers have signed center-back Larrys Mabiala from Kayserispor in Turkey. The 29 year-old defender should join the Timbers in June but won’t be able to play until July when the transfer window opens.
The Timbers would have signed him during the primary window in March, but couldn’t get a deal done because his Turkish side Kayserispor were knee deep in a relegation battle. Mabiala spent his youth in the Paris Saint-Germain system and turned pro with PSG in 2006. He didn’t make many appearances for PSG and in 2009 made the move to OGC Nice.
