PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers lost their first game of the 2020 preseason, presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky, falling 4-2 to Minnesota United FC Wednesday night at Providence Park.
Portland went out to a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when Dairon Asprilla, after receiving a cross-field pass from Tomás Conechny, dribbled along the edge of the 18-yard box and unleashed a rocket into the upper 90 of the Minnesota goal.
Minnesota equalized eight minutes later after a ball skipped across the face of the Portland goal that Raheem Edwards roofed into the net to even the score at 1-1.
