Portland Timbers waive forward Jack McInerney

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced that the club has waived forward Jack McInerney.

“In building our roster for the upcoming season, we’ve had to make some difficult decisions that provide us with necessary cap space for projected additions,” said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for the Timbers. “We thank Jack for his services to the club, and we wish him all the best as he continues his career.”

Acquired by the Timbers ahead of the 2016 MLS campaign, McInerney, 24, appeared in 24 regular-season matches (8 starts) in his sole season with Portland, tallying five goals in regular-season play.
