Not every bit of news coming from the Portland Timbers today is a block buster.
In addition to sending out Lucas Melano on loan, the Timbers also traded away the rights to 2015 second round draft pick Christian Volesky to Sporting Kansas City in exchange for SKC’s natural fourth round draft pick, No. 80 overall.
Volesky, 24, has spent the last two seasons with the USL’s Rochester Rhinos, scoring 18 goals in that time and helping the Rhinos to win the 2015 USL Championship.
The move leaves the Timbers with draft picks No. 10, 32, 76, and 80 in the 2017 SuperDraft.
