Portland Timbers to begin 2016-17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League play on August 3 against CD Dragón

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) unveiled today the group phase schedule for the 2016/17 edition of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, the region’s elite club competition.

The Portland Timbers, making their tournament return, will host El Salvador’s CD Dragon on Aug. 3, 2016 at Providence Park.

Twenty-four teams are set to participate in this season’s continental championship, of which seven will debut.

September will feature two more rounds of play, with the Timbers traveling to Costa Rica on Sept. 14, 2016 to play Deportivo Saprissa and then to El Salvador on Sept.
