The Portland Timbers will participate in another "excessive celebration" when they serve as Grand Marshal for the Portland Rose Festival for the Grand Floral Parade in June.
The selection was announced on Thursday evening by the Portland Rose Festival.
This year's theme, "excessive celebration," is especially fitting for the Timbers.
They returned to Portland after winning the 2015 MLS Cup Championship last December to a festival atmosphere at the Portland International Airport. The party continued during a parade through downtown and culminated in a rally at Providence Park.
Timbers owner Merritt Paulson said in a press release: "The Portland Rose Festival has been integral to our community for more than 100 years, and the Timbers are honored and proud to be a part of this year's festivities as Grand Marshal of the 2016 Grand Floral Parade.
