Portland Timbers 'cautiously optimistic' about Darlington Nagbe's injury

The Portland Timbers are "cautiously optimistic" that Darlington Nagbe's ankle injury will not be severe.

Nagbe was stretchered off the field in the second half of Sunday's game after his ankle was stomped on by LA Galaxy midfielder Nigel de Jong.

The Timbers were initially concerned that the injury could be very serious, but were hopeful for better news after evaluating Nagbe Monday, Stumptown Footy's Chris Rifer reported.

The club will not know the extent of the injury until they get the results of Nagbe's X-rays. Nagbe flew back to Portland from Los Angeles early Monday morning ahead of the rest of the team to be evaluated by a team doctor.
