In the early morning before today's 2016 NWSL College Draft the Portland Thorns were already making moves. It had been rumored for last several days that the Thorns could potentially be moving the second pick and that is exactly what they did, sending it, along with two picks in the 2017 College Draft, to Sky Blue FC. In exchange the Thorns received Danish international forward Nadia Nadim, the third pick in 2016, and a pick in 2017.
Nadim, 28, scored fourteen goals and provided four assists for Sky Blue in 24 matches. After joining the team on loan from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring in 2014 and scoring seven goals in six games, Nadim's scoring form was somewhat less rampant in 2015 when she scored six goals in 18 appearances.
