On Saturday, the Portland Timbers won 3-2 against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Timbers took the lead just before halftime, on a penalty from Dairon Asprilla, and doubled their lead with a quality goal from striker Jaroslaw Niezgoda. The Whitecaps definitely had chances in the game, but the Timbers did enough to hang onto their lead, propelled by Ivacic who made three or four excellent saves.
