The National Women’s Soccer League announced on Thursday the protected players list for the nine clubs, including Portland Thorns FC, for the upcoming 2020 NWSL Expansion Draft. Every team was allowed to protect up to 11 players/U.S. Allocated Players, with up to two U.S. Allocated Players from the 2020 NWSL season.
The Thorns have 11 players protected for the draft and 24 unprotected. The NWSL noted in their press release that retired players such as Katherine Reynolds, who retired just last week, have their playing rights with their most recent NWSL club.
