TACOMA, Wash. – Portland Thorns FC surrendered a goal in each half, falling 2-0 to Reign FC in a road match at Cheney Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Thorns FC will conclude the regular season with a home match – their final match at Providence Park in 2019 – on Sunday, Oct. 12, against the Washington Spirit.
Playoff outlook
Portland (11-6-6, 39pts) enters the final weekend of the NWSL regular season in third place, with a two-point lead over Reign FC (37pts) in fourth place. With a win on Oct. 12, Portland would secure third place and square off against the Chicago Red Stars in the semifinals of the NWSL playoffs.
