PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC defeated the visiting Boston Breakers 4-1 in front of 17,152 fans at Providence Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Thorns took the lead in the 14th minute through a goal by captain Christine Sinclair. Sinclair, in her first start for the Thorns since returning from the Olympics, put away a tap-in just a yard from goal.
The Thorns then doubled their lead in the 41st minute through a Nadia Nadim penalty kick. Midfielder Lindsey Horan earned the penalty kick when her pass in the box was handled by a Breakers player.
