NWSL Championship moved from Providence Park to Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville

The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that the NWSL Championship has been moved from Portland to Louisville. The league and the NWSL Players Association have worked together on issues concerning player safety, transparency and moving the league forward in a new direction.

Moving the championship came at the request of the players. The league aknowledged the impact this has on fans who have already purchased tickets and made travel plans. The league made it clear that this move was made with the support of the NWSLPA, Portland Thorns FC and Racing Louisville FC.

The NWSL’s release said that Portland understood the importance of listening to the players and Louisville stepped up to host.
