The New York Mets have agreed to trade veteran reliever David Robertson to the Miami Marlins for a pair of minor leaguers, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday night.
Second baseman Marco Vargas and catcher Ronald Hernandez, a pair of Rookie League players in Miami's organization, head to New York to complete the trade, according to sources.
Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo said the Robertson trade "made it clear the direction we're going in" with the team six games below .500 after Thursday's 2-1 win over the Nationals.
