PORTLAND, Ore. – Led by a Diego Valeri brace, the Portland Timbers defeated the Seattle Sounders 3-1 Sunday at Providence Park. In addition to Valeri, forward Fanendo Adi also found the net for Portland in the Cascadia Cup match
Valeri put Portland in front just before halftime when the Argentine maestro curled a long-range shot around Seattle's Stefan Frei. Lucas Melano made a long run up the left before playing a square ball to Valeri, who made no mistake to give the Timbers the lead at the break.
