The U.S. Men’s National Team announced the 22 players called up for training camp on Monday, and for the first time ever Portland Timbers defender Marco Farfan made the cut. Farfan will join the USMNT in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as they prepare for their Dec. 9 matchup against El Salvador.
The 22-year-old defender is the first Timbers Academy product to be called up to the senior men’s national team, although he has represented them before at the youth level. Farfan was called in for the U-23 domestic training camp back in 2019. He is now one of 11 players who have a chance to earn their first cap for the USMNT.
