The Portland Timbers officially announced Wednesday that they have acquired winger Jack Barmby on loan with an option to buy from English Premier League club Leicester City.
The Oregonian/OregonLive first reported the acquisition last week.
Barmby was not yet in Timbers training Wednesday, but could arrive later this week.
The 21-year-old winger will occupy an international roster spot on Portland's roster.
Barmby is capable of playing both on the left and right wings and at left back and should give the Timbers critical depth on the left side. Portland has been looking to sign a winger ever since Rodney Wallace made the decision not to re-sign with the club.
