The Portland Thorns announced that they had reached an agreement with Dagny Brynjarsdottir to mutually terminate her contract today, allowing her to return to Iceland to be with her family and allowing the Thorns to free up an international spot as they continue their pursuit of top talent this offseason.
Brynjarsdottir announced her own departure a few days prior to the club announcement on Instagram, saying, “Sadly, women’s soccer isn’t there yet when it comes to integrating professional life and family life. It is impossible for me as a female professional player to live overseas and have my family with me”.
