Thorns and Canada captain, second-all-time leading international goal-scorer, and all-around legend Christine Sinclair was invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada today. She was appointed back in June, but didn’t receive an official ceremony at that time. The Order of Canada is the second-highest honor a Canadian civilian can receive.
Sinc hardly needs an introduction around here, but here are a few of her accomplishments:
- 262 caps for Canada, starting with the 2000 Algarve Cup, when she was 16
- Two-time Olympic bronze medalist
- Second-all-time leading international goal-scorer, with 169 goals for Canada
- 2010 and 2011 WPS champion with FC Gold Pride and Western New York Flash
And, obviously:
During the investiture ceremony, Sinclair was rightly praised as the greatest Canadian soccer player of all time—with no gender qualification necessary.
