On the second day of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft conducted via league conference call, the Portland Timbers selected four players–a defender and three forwards–in the third and fourth round.
With the 15th pick in the third round (61st overall), Portland selected defender Caleb Duvernay from North Carolina State. The defender started all 18 matches of NC State's ACC season and helped anchor the Wolfpack backline to the team's winningest season since 2013.
Two picks later, Portland selected forward Timmy Mueller from Oregon State. Mueller, a former Timbers U-23s player, was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2014 and contributed 23 goals and 10 assists in 67 games for the Beavers.
