PORTLAND, Ore. – A five-run first inning put the Portland Pilots in too deep a hole as they fell in their rubber match against the Gonzaga Bulldogs 8-1. The loss for Portland gave Gonzaga the series 2-1.
Once again, the bats escaped Portland as they struggled to find any offense with only three hits and one run scored. Henry Cheney had the most success on the day, going 2-for-3 from the plate. Sam Brown was the only other Pilot to register a hit.
