PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior point guard Alec Wintering erupted for a career-high 34 points as the Portland Pilots led wire-to-wire in an 87-79 win over the Pepperdine Waves Wednesday night at the Chiles Center. The Pilots improve to 2-0 in West Coast Conference play with the victory.
Wintering was 11-for-15 from the field, 3-for-3 from three-point range and 9-for-13 at the free throw line. He added four rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes.
Senior guard Bryce Pressley was also efficient for the Pilots (8-7, 2-0 WCC) and finished with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range.
