Vikings Control the Boards, Pull Away from Pilots

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State Vikings dominated the glass and held off a late Portland rally for an 87-78 victory on Wednesday night at Viking Pavilion. The Vikings outrebounded the Pilots by a 55-27 margin and gained a 28-6 edge in second chance points.

Despite Portland shooting 48 percent from the field and holding the Vikings (5-3) to 41 percent overall, the Pilots (5-5) could not overcome the margins on the boards.

Sophomore guard JoJo Walker led four Pilots in double figures with 17 points and seven assists. Josh McSwiggan and Marcus Shaver Jr. scored 14 apiece, while Malcolm Porter added 10 points off the bench.
