SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- Darian Slaga scored 16 points, Julie Spencer added 15, and the Pilots and Toreros were never separated by more than a few points, but in the end San Diego held off Portland to win 59-52 on Thursday night at Jenny Craig Pavilion.
The first half was evenly played as neither team was able to gain an advantage. The Pilots led early after a jumper from Spencer and a three by Slaga. Late in the first quarter Spencer collected a three-point play to put the Pilots up four points, but the Toreros tied it 12-12 by the end of the frame.
