PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific Tigers started fast and never looked back in an 80-58 win over the Portland Pilots Saturday afternoon in a West Coast Conference men's basketball game at the Chiles Center. Portland was without leading scorer Ahmed Ali, who was a late scratch due to injury.
Pacific came out on fire and rushed out to a 12-0 lead to open the game and led by as much as 24 late in the first half. Portland closed the half with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 47-30 at the break.
The Pilots (6-14, 0-11 WCC) pulled within 16 midway through the second half after three free throws by freshman guard Zac Triplett, but the Tigers (7-7, 4-6) stretched the lead with a 7-0 run and cruised down the stretch.
