PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland sophomore Chad Stevens was named to the initial 2019 Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, which was released by the College Baseball Foundation. The award, sponsored by Mizuno, honors the nation's top shortstop.
Stevens leads the Pilots this season with a .297 batting average, 54 hits, and 12 doubles, and he's tied for the conference-high with 42 runs scored and four sacrifice flies. He's also belted four home runs, collected 26 RBI's, has a triple, and he's stolen 11 bases.
Stevens, who originally hails from Fox Island, Wash., has compiled a team-high 17 multi-hit games, and against Northern Colorado on March 9 he tied a program record with four stolen bases in one game.
